Katherine is a stay-at-home mom who began training at Empower at the end of August, 2009. She decided to start working with a trainer for the structure and discipline that it provides.
Katherine’s goals were to improve her overall health and increase her energy level. She wanted to lose weight that she had gained during pregnancy. In her own words “I’ve lost over 30 pounds and am so excited to be halfway to my weight loss goal. I could not have made it this far without the support, guidance, and encouragement I’ve received from my trainer, Jamie Ives.”
In terms of training, Jamie has focused on total body workouts with Katherine. He keeps her moving and incorporates a lot of cardiovascular training, boxing, rowing, and stairs. Another reason for her results is a change in dietary habits, as she has begun keeping a food journal and writing down everything she eats. In her own words “it truly opened up my eyes as to what and how much I was eating.”
The results have been great. In nine months Katherine has lost 30 pounds, decreased body fat, increased lean muscle mass, improved flexibility, improved cardiovascular endurance, and her core strength has “increased ten fold.” She has more energy and increased confidence.
Katherine’s advice to others that are interested in obtaining similar health and fitness goals are to work out at least three times a week for an hour, keep a food journal, weight yourself regularly, and don’t give up!
