Eric Broadbent joined the Empower Raleigh Team as a Personal Trainer in the Fall of 2013. He is extremely excited to be joining such a diverse and enthusiastic TEAM. The transition to joining Empower Personalized Fitness Raleigh was quite easy for Eric because they share a lot of the same values. At Empower Personalized Fitness Raleigh it’s all about building relationships and creating an environment where you can’t help but be successful; Eric has built his training philosophy around creating and fostering positive relationships. “If the client doesn’t know you and have faith in you, then you’re just spinning your wheels and not actually getting anywhere with them or being as successful in helping them reach their goals” says Eric.
With regards to personal training philosophy, Eric comes from an athletic background so training programs for his personal training clients in Raleigh parallels what you might see an athlete doing. He realizes that every client is a unique case and has certain limitations and health history that might limit certain movements. Eric believes that strength training mixed with some metabolic conditioning tends to be the best approach for his clients. Most of his personal training sessions are based around learning new skills, multi-joint upper and lower body supersets, and some form of conditioning circuit at the end of the session.
Empower Personalized Fitness Raleigh is all about having clients perform exercises and movements that parallel real life; this includes moving through several planes of motion and using multiple joints at one time. Eric could not agree more with this philosophy. This is why you won’t see too many machines on the training floor of Empower Personalized Fitness Raleigh. Using machines simply doesn’t parallel real life or prepare our bodies for the rigors of daily movement!
Eric believes that a client will only reach their goals if they are patient, realistic, and take a holistic approach to reaching their goals. Empower Personalized Fitness is setup around three pillars of health and lifestyle wellness that all of their services are based around. These include: exercise, stress management, and whole foods balanced nutrition. This provides for a very well rounded approach to reaching your goals. Often times clients think that in order to lose weight or become fit, they need to go on some crash diet and exercise constantly. Really, its about easing yourself into these lifestyle changes and eventually getting to the point where it doesn’t feel like a diet or a burden to workout, but rather a lifestyle habit that you’ve developed. The success rate is much higher for people who realize this and take the balanced approach.
Once you have the holistic training approach and you feel good about who you are working with, then things become a whole lot easier. Eric and the rest of the Empower TEAM are ready to get you on track and feeling awesome whenever you are ready.
