How Pets Make us Happier and Healthier

The dog days of summer are here and Empower is celebrating by having everyone post pictures of their dogs/pets on the bulletin board above the water fountain. We all know everyone takes dozens of pictures of their pets so if you’d like to join please bring in a picture!

Whether you enjoy the never-ending playfulness and unconditional love of dogs or the spontaneous goofiness and affection of cats, we can all agree that pets make us happier, healthier people.

Check out this website.

Here are some highlights from the article:

Science tells us that when meeting a new person, the presence of a dog reduces the period of time before people feel comfortable while talking with each other by 45 percent.

On average, people who cared for dogs during their lifetime live an average of three years longer than people who never had a dog.

Walking a dog gives you the stress relief of exercise! Dog owners walk 79 percent farther in an average week than non-dog owners.
