Empower Raleigh NOW OPEN

Empower Personalized Fitness is NOW OPEN at 2501 Blue Ridge Road in The Atrium Building at the intersection of Blue Ridge and Lake Boone Trail near Rex Hospital. The Raleigh location is a culmination of everything Ronda and I have learned since we opened our flagship location in Durham in 2005.

For those of you who don’t know – Empower is a private health and fitness studio that offers highly personalized fitness services, specializing in private personal training and focused group fitness classes. To encourage the Raleigh community to come give us a try we are offering Grand Opening Specials – which include a Free Initial Personal Training Session and One Week of Free Classes.

It has been our long-time goal to bring the Empower vision to the Raleigh community so we are really excited about the opening of our new location. Empower Personalized Fitness is different from any other fitness center and Raleigh-ites will benefit from our highly personalized approach to fitness with services such as personal training, small group fitness classes (including indoor cycling) and health coaching in a boutique setting.

Empower is not a typical gym in that no membership is required to take advantage of any of the multitude of services. At Empower Raleigh you can drop in to a focused group fitness class, sign up for personal training, meet with a nutrition counselor – or, try it all.

Ronda and I are thrilled about the opening of Empower Raleigh and have a true sense of pride to know that we are realizing our vision of empowering people and communities to lead stronger, healthier and happier lives.

One Man and Paleo (Day 3)

Fresh Veggies

All right, Day 3 has come and gone and I’m feeling pretty in the grove with the diet. I will add though that yesterday was the first day I had any specific cravings; I really wanted some bread. But didn’t give in and had a good day of eating. I added a few things from Day 1 and Day 2, I had a bit more handfuls of nuts. I carried around a bag of raw mixed veggies to nosh on when I needed it and I had about two dozen small shrimp for dinner.

One little tidbit I’ve used to help things taste good is that in a pinch if I need a quick meal I through some beef or chicken (about 6-8 oz) in a bowl along with a whole avocado and about half a cup to a full cup of good fresh salsa. Heat up for about two minutes and you get a nice fast tasty meal.

All in all so far I feel pretty good. I’ve noticed a decided lack of feeling bloated (I’m pretty certain this comes from ditching the processed carbs.) Energy seems to be okay, though I felt a little more tired at night then I do normally. Probably just need an adjustment in calories. A few more fruits and veggies should probably help.

Remember, a nutrition bar or whey shake is still processed! All natural, all real. Pick it. Kill it. Eat it.

Greetings Empower Community!

As some of you may know, Empower has been looking for a new trainer and Iím very excited to have been given the opportunity to fulfill that role. I have experienced many other gyms and Empower is definitely the place to be. Although Iím new to Empower, Iím not new to training as you will see from my bio. Like the other trainers here my experiences have been quite eclectic due to my broad interest in the exercise related field. Hopefully I can bring some new ideas to Empower while I further my experience here. I have enjoyed my first few weeks greatly and I look forward to meeting everyone and becoming a great asset to the team.
