New Year’s Resolution season is in full swing and to keep in the spirit we are having a free informational meeting on the 21 Day Cleanse at Empower on January 19th at 7pm. REGISTER HERE. There are a few groups of folks who have gotten a head start on the cleanse already. As I was explaining to them the details of this regimen I realized that ìcleanseî is not the best way to describe it. This is more of an ìorgan tune upî, something to be done several times per year to keep our internal organs working smoothly.
Unfortunately I don’t know enough about cars to make and automobile analogy, but I feel there is one in here somewhere. This 21 day cleanse is about feeding the body targeted nutrients that are running low in our systems due to the rigors of modern day life (stress, less than ideal dietary choices, lack of regular exercise as well as polluted air and water). When nutrients run low, organs function sub optimally. This means, for example, that if we eat extra calories, the liver can’t deal with them completely before the next meal and so the extra calories have to get put into storage as extra weight. The less optimally the liver functions, the easier it is to put on weight. If we are not able to clear irritants from our system efficiently, like allergens, then our immune system remains in a state of high alert also known as inflammation. Inflammation manifests itself in many ways including as the first step in disease, as pain, as swelling, etc. The liver can get bogged down with the by-products of inflammation and a backlog of food residues, perhaps like a car’s oil can get thick and goopy if it is not changed regularly, making the filter inefficient and the car’s performance not optimal.
This 21 day program is about changing out that oil. We put in simple, whole foods and targeted supplementation that will allow the liver to give itself a tune up, throw out some junk and start to work more efficiently. The end results may include weight loss, less aches and pains, improved digestion, better sleep, better mood, better cholesterol levels, improved blood pressure and many other unexpected benefits.
A few folks who went through the cleanse in the fall had this to say:
ìIt was a challenge but not terrible. I lost between 5-10 pounds.Definitely I would recommend this cleanse. The primary reason to do it is to get more in touch with oneís own habits.î Lori I.
ìI have noticed some significant and positive changes :
1. Prior to detox, I always had swelling or puffiness in my hands and eyes upon waking up in the morning — that is completely gone.
2. Prior to detox I had joint stiffness, mainly in my ankles and feet in the mornings — that is virtually gone and the difference is quite dramatic. Seriously, I was very stiff in my ankles and feet prior to this and now I have virtually none of that stiff feeling.
3. My skin looks good!î Mary S.
So do not be afraid of this ìtune upî. It is gentle, easy to do and requires you to eat. Please join us on January 19 to hear more and get answers to your burning questions.
Three cheers to better biochemistry!
